Pacquiao vs Mayweather: deal almost set

Dec. 02, 2009 | by Micko Santos

According to some sources, the proposed date is March 13 next year. Floyd Mayweather Jr. agreed to terms on Tuesday for the much-anticipated Welterweight action.

The mega fight between two big names in boxing Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is getting bigger. It has to happen.

The Pacquiao-Cotto Firepower generated 1.25 million pay-per-view buys from 650,000 cable homes and 600,000 satellite services. Surely the Pacquiao-Mayweather is expected to reach more.

Due to public demand, Bob Arum and Richard Schaefer began negotiations just a few days after the Firepower showdown. Arum was flying to the Philippines Tuesday to meet Manny Pacquiao to settle the deal for the fight.

If there’s no Pacquiao-Maweather next year maybe Manny Pacquiao is going to fight Yuri Foreman while Floyd Mayweather is possibly fighting Matthew Hatton according to some rumors around. Let us hope for positive results.

Promoters are considering Dallas Cowboys Stadium, MGM Grand Garden Arena and New Orleans Superdome as the possible options for the venue of the fight.
