Feb. 05, 2010 | by Jhon Edwards

Yusaf Mack suffered a devastating sixth round stoppage under the hands of former world champion Glen Johnson on Friday night at the NSU Arena at Don Taft University Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.

Glen Johnson (50-13-2, 34 KO’s) dismantled the younger Yusaf Mack (28-3-2, 17 KO’s). The fight was stopped at 2:21 of the 6th round. In the first round, both fighters fought toe-to-toe with each other. Mack looked for chances in early rounds to shut down Johnson. Glen Johnson received some hard punches from Mack in the first three rounds of the fight.

Yusaf Mack displayed unbelievable hand speed in the second round, landing a number of clean right shots over Johnson. In later rounds, however, Johnson showed dominance in the fight. He landed clean body shots on Mack. Heavy punches were smoothly connected on Mack’s body and head.

In the 6th round, Johnson dropped Mack three times. Johnson scored four left jabs and knocked Mack down in the opening minute. Mack got up but Johnson gained momentum and dropped Mack for the second time with right hand.

Mack got up again after the knockout. Both fighters met in the center but after Mack took a knee on the third knockout, referee Frank Gentile stopped the fight. It was a great victory for Glen Johnson.
