De La Hoya changes prediction on Pacquiao vs Cotto fight

Hall of famer Oscar De La Hoya changed his prediction on the upcoming showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.

In the past, Dela hoya had picked Pacquiao but this week he changed his mind. He said that Cotto will surprise everyone on Nov 14.

Oscar De La Hoya: "Now that the fight is getting closer, I’ve changed my mind about who I think will win. At first, I had Manny Pacquiao. I was a firm believer that Pacquiao’s speed was going to neutralize Miguel Cotto, especially after Cotto’s performance against Joshua Clottey in June. Then, as the fight was getting closer and closer and I thought more about it, I’m now convinced Cotto will win. The reason is, first, nobody looks good against Clottey. He’s a difficult, strong, in-your-face type of fighter. And Cotto had that gash over his eye the whole fight. I thought he did an excellent job in light of that. Cotto has a good chin and a big heart. He’s a natural welterweight who hits hard and is also smart and fast. Pacquiao doesn’t hit hard enough to knock anyone out in the welterweight division. I’m basing that on my fight against Pacquiao. I could’ve stood there and put my face in front of him and he couldn’t have hurt me".

I totally agree with Dela Hoya. Pacquiao is not a great fighter at all. Facing a fighter like Cotto is another dimension. He is the toughest opponent of Manny Pacquiao on his entire career.

I compared the two media workouts of Cotto and Pacquiao. At Cotto's media work out, you can see the maturity, dedication and focus of Cotto."This guy is a beast". That's the word came into my mind when i saw him during his workout. He is 120 percent ready in my opinion.

On the other hand, Pacquiao and Roach said they are ready to challenge Miguel Cotto. Manny Pacquao seems to be confident for now but will begin to tremble when he face Cotto on Saturday night.

Pacman is a super fighter, but he is fighting a man with a purpose on 14 Nov 09. Cotto is not a shot fighter.....don't make the mistake of judging his abilities because of his fight with Clottey. Clottey is a monster at 147, a fighter that no one who has defeated him (Margarito-Cotto) has been able to dominate. Manny should know by know that this is not going to be a walk in the park and freddie is speaking out of fear. Let's see what he will do when he get struck by Cotto's jab in the face and come to realize that he is in the ring with a natural, skilled, smart and proven 147 boxer. I'm not taking anything away from Pacman, he is extremely good, no doubt, a great champ. I just think that he has been overrated by the media after defeating a shot and retired ODH and an average boxer with no chin like Hatton.

dela hoya should get medical attention.maybe that was the worst effect after fighting pacquiao. he just cant accept the fact that a small guy like pacquiao could kill him if he stood and fight til the end.

Guys! you can pick a fighter and you will have bunch of reasons why your fighter will win because you will always emphasize on your fighter's strenght and the other fighter's weakness. Actually both fighters have what it takes to win the fight if they have the right game plan and stamina to execute it. But i think the fighter that will win this bout is the out who can take advantage of the mistakes of the other fighter. Judging on previus fights, I think the pac man is far more better in capitalizing in the mistakes of the fighters make in the ring.

You can't say "This guy is a beast" just by looking at him and his performance. Epic fail of prediction here guys. Intelligence didn't provoke the real end of a fight. You can't tell if someone who looks lesser could do something to turn the world up side down. You look at his heart and perseverance, doing the fight for his countrymen who experienced typhoon tragedies could surely hit his heart and fighting spirit rocket sky high, enough to beat cotto.
