Bradley defeats Peterson to defend WBO title

Dec. 13, 2009 | by Jhon Edwards

Timothy Bradley beat Lamont Peterson by unanimous decision to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) 140-pound title on Saturday at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California.

Bradley (25-0, 11 KOs) remained undefeated after dismantling Peterson. According to Bradley, his experience played a great role on the fight.

"He came out and made me fight like no one ever has," "I think experience played a real big role. He had the right game plan, but he got a little careless, and he was rushing in there instead of following his jab. When he came in is when I nailed him." Bradley said.

Peterson received a big right hand from Bradley 60 seconds before the end of the first round. Peterson was disappointed about the dominance displayed by Bradley.

"My game plan was to win the first round, but in the middle of the first round, I got hit real hard by a couple of right hands," Peterson said. "It really bothered me. I lost the round, I fell behind, I got reckless. I couldn't make it up. I gave it all I had. He's a great champion."

Bradley scored a knockdown after throwing a right in the third round. Bradley tarnished Peterson’s record with (27-1). The champion Timothy Bradley made a great victory in his hometown.

Bradley said, "I will fight whoever they want me to fight, and I don't care where I have to go."
